The Smurfs: New Partnerships and 90s Music Revival in 2026

The Smurfs are on with a mix of new adventures and childhood nostalgia for fans of all ages to smurf along throughout the year!

Smurfs x Bastet Collection at the British Museum

The Smurfs and Bastet come together at the British Museum in a playful new collection inspired by curiosity, adventure, and discovery. The Smurfs, the loveable blue characters known for their teamwork, step into a new story alongside Bastet, the Museum’s feline guardian, inspired by the iconic Gayer-Anderson Cat, which represents the ancient Egyptian goddess of protection.

Launching ahead of the Museum’s Smurfy Summer this July, featuring a family-friendly Museum trail, pop-up activities, and seasonal events, this collection brings together playful fiction and historic symbolism. The Smurfs x Bastet range blends light-hearted adventure with references to the British Museum collection, creating a fun and engaging way to explore culture. Whether you are discovering these characters for the first time or revisiting them with nostalgia, this collection captures the Museum’s magic for all ages. Smurfy work!

90’s Smurf Music is Back on Track!

It’s definitely back to the nineties and nillies for the beloved blue icons, as Peyo Company and Magic Star announce a new global digital distribution deal for the rich and devilishly catchy Smurfs music catalogue. This April, the hills will Smurf again with the sound of music as the beloved songs are set to become available across streaming platforms as part of the agreement with Magic Star.

“We are delighted to be partnering with such an iconic and beloved brand as The Smurfs”, underlined Will Speer, Managing Director & Co-Founder at Magic Star. “Music has always been at the heart of their world, and we look forward to bringing this to families all across the globe.”

The deal includes the distribution of several albums in multiple languages, including English, Czech, Hungarian, Icelandic, Polish, Slovak, and Spanish. All titles will become available across streaming platforms in the following months, with the first English albums (including fan-favorite “The Smurfs Go POP!”) dropping in the next few weeks on Spotify, Apple Music, Deezer, Amazon, YouTube, QQ, Kugou, and Pandora.

For those too young to remember, the craze began in Europe in the mid-nineties. Blending Eurodance covers of popular hits with high-pitched, parody vocals, the Smurf-themed songs quickly grew in popularity as their success expanded across the continent, before becoming global.

Véronique Culliford, Peyo’s daughter, President and Founder of Peyo Company, added:

“Making this music accessible to a younger generation was very dear to me. My father’s characters brought joy to so many already, and I’m glad that young Smurfs fans will be able to enjoy these songs today.”

Smurf covers of the 90s and 2000s were adapted to be innocent and Smurf-themed, full of love, friendship, and “smurfing”. Covered artists included Spice Girls, Britney Spears, and Backstreet Boys, transforming chart-toppers into snappy children’s dance tracks, with many becoming smash hits themselves and dozens of albums adapted to multiple territories and languages. Going into the 2000s, this Smurfing European trend continued with various holiday albums, as the blue loveable characters smurfed Birthdays, Christmas, and ecstatic children’s parties alike.

Happy Socks x Smurfs

The Collection is a delightfully nostalgic and stylishly colorful (mainly blue) range of socks available for adults and kids. These original styles bring the feel-good vibes of Smurf Village straight to your sock drawer. Perfect for a forest adventure, or just enough playful energy to get you through another Gargamonday. Not to mention the special Papa Smurf Father’s Day gift set, bringing together a playful mix of Smurf-inspired patterns in classic colors (blue, of course).

Celebrating the Smurfs Classic TV Series’ 45th Anniversary

The Smurfs classic series produced by Hanna Barbera debuted on NBC on September 12, 1981, and quickly became a global phenomenon, an unmatched cartoon animation success during the 80s, creating strong links with a whole generation of kids! The celebrations are also echoing in licensed products, with several 80s-style Smurfs collections launching this year.

New TV Adventures Coming to TV this Fall

Two new TV adventures of The Smurfs will take the little blue friends out of their village for original adventures! These 2×22’ CGI-animated short films are set for a global TV release next Fall and Winter.

“The Great Magic Showdown” will take place during a competition of magic skills between wizards from all over the world. It will focus on Gargamel, and it will remind us all why the evil wizard wants to catch the Smurfs more than anything else!

In the second adventure titled “Un Unexpected Arrival”, we will meet a brand-new character: Baby Smurfie, a cute but mischievous little face, and her good (actually bad) ideas.
