Design meets the magic of the world’s most beloved fairies to redefine the way we experience the home.
Home Fairy Home is a project conceived by Rainbow that reinterprets the domestic universe through a pop, contemporary, and identity-driven lens, drawing inspiration from the iconic imagery of Winx Club, a global phenomenon capable of inspiring entire generations.
In an era where the home is increasingly seen as a sanctuary and a distinctive space, Home Fairy Home proposes a new interpretation of living. The magical universe of Winx Club enters daily life: everyday objects and accessories become symbolic elements, stimulating domestic life with fantasy, creativity, and new harmonies of color. The home is transformed into a space capable of telling stories and evoking emotions, offering a positive and aspirational vision.
THE PROJECT: NEW GENERATIONS IN DESIGN
The Winx phenomenon, a symbol of pop culture and a synonym for style, thus becomes a source of inspiration for the new voices of design. Thanks to this ambitious project, it serves as an entry point into the design world for younger generations who have traditionally been excluded. Adolescents and young adults find a point of contact between their own imagination — closely linked to fantasy, visual culture, computer animation, and action movies — and the project, which becomes an opportunity for dialogue and training, engaging the creative designers of the future.
At the core of the initiative is an educational journey involving selected students from the Event Design course at Politecnico di Milano – School of Design and the Design course at Poliarte, Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Ancona. Participants were challenged to reinterpret the identity and personality of the animated series’ characters, transforming them into concepts and objects related to various areas of the home (living, home entertainment, bedroom, homework, tableware/kitchenware, and bathroom/home spa).
Organized into multidisciplinary teams, the students created projects — ranging from original creations to creative reinterpretations — translated into full-scale prototypes. This was achieved through direct engagement with materials, technologies, and production processes, under the coordination of professors Luca Fois for Politecnico di Milano and Michele Capuani for Poliarte Ancona.
THE EXHIBITION
The result of this creative process takes shape in an exhibition organized in collaboration with the Lombardy Region, Politecnico di Milano – School of Design, and Poliarte Ancona, hosted in the IsolaSET exhibition space in Piazza Regione Lombardia.
Over 100 works are on display, including prototypes developed by students, bespoke projects created by prestigious design companies, and creations by internationally renowned artists, offering visitors an immersive experience that combines design, imagination, and a touch of magic.
