Madgic Distribution has acquired worldwide distribution rights outside the UK to Jamie Johnson FC, the hit CBBC family football drama produced by Strike.
The deal extends the relationship between the two companies, following Madgic Distribution‘s acquisition earlier this year of international rights to Strike’s CBeebies series Football Fantastics.
Jamie Johnson FC (xx x 30′) is a high-energy, live-action scripted series for kids and families set at the fictional Hawx United Academy, where talented young footballers chase their dreams while navigating friendship, rivalry and the pressures of academy life. Combining authentic football action – including cameos from some of the game’s biggest stars – with character-driven storytelling, the series is built for family co-viewing, bringing parents and children together around a shared passion for the world’s most popular sport.
The series builds on the proven international strength of Jamie Johnson, which has been broadcast in more than 80 countries and recognised with awards including MIPCOM, Rockie, Prix Jeunesse and RTS honours. The latest episodes of Jamie Johnson FC launched on BBC iPlayer in May, and a new season has already been commissioned for delivery later this year – underlining the BBC’s continued commitment to the franchise.
Lionel Marty, Managing Director of Madgic Distribution says:
“Jamie Johnson FC captures all the passion, joy, hard work, teamwork and friendship of competing in a team sport – themes that will resonate with children globally. We are excited to expand our relationship with Strike and to take this fantastic authentic show to new audiences on the eve of this summer’s FIFA World Cup this summer.”
Sarah Muller, Senior Head of Children’s Commissioning 7+, BBC Children’s and Education added: “Jamie Johnson FC combines the excitement and energy of football with stories that genuinely connect with young audiences. The series captures the friendships, challenges and ambitions that are such a defining part of growing up, while celebrating the positive values that sport can inspire. We’re proud to continue supporting a franchise that has resonated with children and families for many years and are delighted to see it reaching new audiences around the world.”
