Forla launches world first football inspired ophthalmic lenses

In an unprecedented move for the global sports licensing and ophthalmic industries, Grêmio Foot-Ball Porto Alegrense and Sport Club Internacional, independently enter the premium licensed ophthalmic segment through exclusive partnerships with Forla, with strategic licensing management by Fama Licenciamentos.

The initiative marks the first time rival football clubs from Southern Brazil simultaneously expand into the high-performance optical category with proprietary branded lens technology inspired by each club’s identity and emotional connection with supporters.

The project positions both clubs within one of the fastest-growing sectors in Latin America: the optical market, which generated more than R$28 billion in Brazil during 2025. Historically dominated by multinational corporations, the industry now welcomes a new category that merges healthcare, technology, lifestyle, and sports passion.

Technology Highlights

Developed by Forla, the collections introduce proprietary ophthalmic innovations:

  • Edge Foggy Logo: A technology where club crests subtly appear under condensation or vapor.
  • Chromatic AR Technology: Anti-reflective residual effects inspired by each club’s iconic colors (Blue for Grêmio, Red for Internacional).
  • Protection: Integrated blue-light filtering and UV400 protection for modern digital lifestyles.

Ricardo Garbin, says:

“This project transforms ophthalmic lenses into an emotional experience — combining premium visual performance with football identity in a way the market has never seen before.”

For Fabiano Veronezi, the launch represents a new era for sports licensing: “It is the creation of a completely new category where technology, emotional branding, healthcare, and fan engagement coexist.”

João Gomide, Grêmio’s Business Executive, and Lucas Butier, representing Internacional, both highlighted the strategic importance of translating club excellence into the health and innovation sectors, offering fans a unique way to carry their team’s identity.

From a commercial perspective, Leandro Brum notes that the collection delivers a rare competitive advantage for optical retailers, linking advanced engineering with two of the most passionate brands in South America.

The collections will officially launch in June through selected optical retailers and Forla’s authorized network, with prices ranging from R$299 to R$900.
