Blonde Sheep Licensing Announces Morrisons as First Licensee for Applied Nutrition

Blonde Sheep Licensing has announced that Morrisons is the first licensee for Applied Nutrition plc.  The exclusive multi-year agreement sees Morrisons formulate, produce and sell Applied Nutrition branded meals and food products.

Morrisons has successfully launched a range of 53 Applied Nutrition branded products across c.400 stores and online earlier this month. Products include high-protein ready meals, food-to-go salads and bowls, pizzas, cheeses, pasta and ice cream, all developed with a strong focus on protein quality, balanced nutrition and everyday accessibility and designed to meet the evolving needs of today’s health-conscious consumer.  Further category expansion planned as the programme continues to evolve.

Applied Nutrition is a leading sports nutrition, health and wellness brand, and the license marks a major milestone in the brand’s expansion beyond sports supplements and into everyday food and grocery. The collaboration brings together Morrisons’ heritage and expertise in food development with Applied Nutrition’s authority in performance nutrition, health and wellness. The Morrisons partnership establishes a strong foundation for the future growth of Applied Nutrition’s licensed food portfolio.

A standout element of the range was the introduction of the UK’s first supermarket-exclusive GLP-1 friendly meals. The ‘Small & Balanced’ collection of complete ready meals has been developed specifically for consumers using GLP-1 weight-management medications, as well as those seeking portion-controlled, nutrient-dense options. The range delivers balanced macronutrients in smaller portions, supporting satiety without compromising on taste – a first-to-market innovation for both brands.

Lizzy Massey, Own Brand Director at Morrisons, commented:

“We know our customers are increasingly seeking high-protein foods that fit seamlessly into their everyday lives – at home, at work or on the move. The growing use of GLP-1s has further accelerated demand for convenient, nutrient-dense options that support balanced eating. Applied Nutrition is a highly trusted, fast-growing brand, and this exclusive partnership has enabled us to bring genuine innovation and choice to our customers.”

Thomas Ryder, CEO of Applied Nutrition, comments:

“We’re excited to have partnered with Morrisons for our first licensing-out deal, a testament to the strength of our brand and the growing consumer demand for convenient, high-protein food choices. This is a great opportunity to reach new audiences and enable existing customers to deepen their engagement with our brand. We’ve enjoyed working with Morrisons, combining their expertise in food development with our deep customer understanding to create a unique product range designed to support people in achieving their wellness goals.”

“With an increase in the demand from consumers for great tasting high protein products the launch couldn’t have been better timed. Seeing the range successfully in market and resonating with consumers is a testament to the strength of both brands and the power of strategic licensing. We couldn’t be more pleased to have played a role in making this vision a reality, and know we couldn’t have found a more committed licensee than Morrisons” comments Natasha Dyson, founder & CEO, Blonde Sheep Licensing.
