Smoby Toys wins European “Play for Change Award” with Mud Kitchen

Role play and outdoor activities are essential to children’s development. The Mud Kitchen from Smoby Toys offers a combination of both, and has been awarded the silver “Play for Change Award” in the Sustainability category by Toy Industries of Europe (TIE).

Suitable for children aged three and up, the outdoor kitchen allows little ones to experiment with natural materials like sand, and provides a variety of play opportunities that support motor skill development and inspire creativity. The Mud Kitchen is made from 90% recycled plastic at the Smoby factory in France.

With this sustainability award, the jury has once again recognized the French toy manufacturer Smoby Toys for its efforts to reduce environmental impact, use eco-friendly materials, and inspire children to take care of the planet.

Alexis Delorme, Managing Director of Smoby Toys SAS in France, who accepted the award in Brussels, says:

“Our Mud Kitchen is part of the Smoby Life collection, which combines recycled materials with new, high-quality plastic granulate. This mixture of materials reduces plastic waste and CO₂ emissions, while also ensuring safety, durability, and stability. I am delighted that we were able to impress the jury again this year.”

The award was created to recognize toy companies that demonstrate innovation in the areas of “Sustainability”, “Diversity & Inclusion”, or “Life Skills”. The jury is made up of key opinion leaders, founders, board members, consultants, and journalists from across the toy industry.
