IMAGINATION UNLEASHED: BRINGING IPS TO LIFE WITH ACOMMZ

LM is pleased to share its exclusive interview with Michelle Kim, Senior Manager at ACOMMZ CO. LTD – the trailblazing company bringing imagination to life with boundless creativity, emotional storytelling, and a global approach.

Can you tell us about the background of ACOMMZ?

Michelle Kim, Senior Manager at ACOMMZ CO. LTD

ACOMMZ is a super exciting and fast-growing company where we create amazing animations, unique characters, and unforgettable films. But we don’t just stop there! We take our IPs to the next level by bringing them to life through social media, global distribution, licensing, and merchandising. Basically, we make sure our stories and characters reach fans all around the world.

We’re also proud to be the licensing agent for iconic brands Wallace & Gromit and Shaun the Sheep like the UK’s Aardman Animations. Additionally, we’re always on the lookout for great IPs—whether they’re characters, animations, or films—from both domestic and international markets. Once we acquire these IPs, we tailor them to the Korean market and work actively to build thriving businesses around them.

Here’s a fun fact: over the last three years, we’ve doubled our revenue every single year! It’s been an incredible journey, and we’re just getting started. Our team is packed with talent, including key members who helped bring character PUCCA —a global favorite—to life. With over 20 years of experience working on this hugely successful character, they bring creativity and expertise that are second to none. And here’s the best part: we’ve got about 60 brilliant minds in-house who pour their hearts into making animations that audiences everywhere love. From dreaming up big ideas to sharing them with the world, we’re all about creating fun, inspiring, and memorable experiences.

What are some of the most popular IPs / characters you have created so far?

We’re so excited to share some of our most popular IPs with you!

First, we have an exciting new animation series called Super Guardians. It’s a 3D action-adventure series for kids aged 4 to 7, with 26 episodes, each 11 minutes long Super Guardians was made in collaboration with Mikros Animation in Canada and will air on SBS this May! The story follows animal heroes dealing with global warming—not just by saving the day, but by tackling real conflicts and failures. Through teamwork, they grow closer as a family and learn valuable lessons. With 6 adorable main characters, the story is packed with family, friendship, and personal growth, making it both relatable and inspiring!

Next up is Maca & Roni, a slapstick comedy show with over 246 million YouTube views across three seasons. Season 3 was co-produced with Spain’s HAMPA Studio, with participation from RTVE as well.

Then we have Wasabi Bear, a character with a bold, colorful, and unique design that’s rapidly expanding its global reach. After signing with the rising Chinese master licensee Golden Island, Wasabi Bear is taking off in China this year. We’re also finalizing a deal with a well-known Japanese master licensee under a top broadcaster, so you can expect exciting news from Japan soon!

And last but not least, meet Dow-Dow, a funny, squishy doughnut with 2 million TikTok followers. Dow-Dow recently partnered with Unicorn Entertainment, a trusted master licensee in China. We’re looking forward to kicking off a fantastic year of business there.

What makes the European and US markets strategic priorities for your company’s expansion?

The European and US markets are undeniably large and influential markets in the world, both linguistically and historically. For us at ACOMMZ, these markets represent an exciting challenge and an incredible opportunity for growth.

Right now, dramas, films, pop, and even webtoons are enjoying global recognition, proving that Korean content can resonate with audiences everywhere. At ACOMMZ, we’re confident we can bring this same wave of success to the animation and character IP sector.

Our company was founded by key members of VOOZ, the team behind the global success of Pucca in North America and Europe. With this experience, we’re determined to create new success stories with our character IPs.

We’re actively building networks across Europe and the US to expand our reach and are exploring co-productions and investment opportunities to develop content tailored to these markets. We believe these collaborations will allow us to introduce our creativity to a wider audience and make a lasting impact in these key markets.

Can you share some details about ACOMMZ’s upcoming projects?

At ACOMMZ, we are currently working on a variety of exciting IP projects.

Cats & Soup

One of our key projects, Super Guardians, is gaining traction globally. We are in discussions with a major investment company in Singapore to co-produce Season 2, and the show has already received strong interest from multiple distributors and broadcasters.

We are also amplifying our efforts to expand Dow-Dow and Wasabi Bear globally, following their successful business launches in East Asia. To ensure that Dow-Dow becomes a truly sensational IP, we are planning a brand-new TV series that will take the characters to the next level.

Additionally, we are developing an animated TV series based on the popular mobile game Cats & Soup, which is already well-known in North America and China. While the project is still in its early stages, we are striving to create a show that is both entertaining and filled with meaningful messages and value for the audience, building on the immense popularity of the original game.

We are so excited to share more details about these projects in the near future! If you’re interested in learning more about our company and projects, please feel free to reach out to us at jhkim@commz.co.kr or ymlee@commz.co.kr. We’d love to hear from you!
