In a significant economic development, Governor Eduardo Leite joined officials at Palácio Piratini to unveil the ambitious project for a themed hotel complex dedicated to two of Brazil’s most storied football clubs, Grêmio and Internacional.
The project, led by Laghetto Sports Resort, represents a substantial investment of R$ 1 billion and is slated for completion by 2027.
Largest Licensing Deal in Brazil
The initiative, hailed as Brazil’s largest licensing agreement, promises substantial recurring royalties for both clubs over the next 33 years, as highlighted by Fabiano Veronezi, CEO of Fama Licenciamentos. This landmark deal ensures a steady income stream for the clubs, leveraging their strong brand identities.
The announcement event was attended by several high-ranking officials, including Vice Governor Gabriel Souza and Secretaries Artur Lemos, Luiz Fernando Rodríguez Júnior, Ernani Polo, and Marjorie Kauffman. Key representatives from the football clubs included Grêmio’s CEO Marcio Ramos and VP José Duarte, alongside SC Internacional’s Giovanni Zanardo and VP Cauê Vieira. From Laghetto Sports Resort, partners Plinio Ghisleni, Gilberto Stobaus, and Gustavo Kinzel were present, emphasizing the project’s significance and the collaborative effort involved.
Resort Details
The resort complex will encompass two distinct properties, each spanning 15 hectares with 17,000 square meters of private area and housing 461 apartments. These will be marketed under a timeshare model, allowing owners to enjoy the facilities for one or two weeks per year. The project anticipates an impressive occupancy rate exceeding 80%, potentially accommodating up to 1,500 visitors weekly.
Economic Impact
The financial implications of this project are profound. The clubs will receive revenue from the licensing rights from the onset of commercialization. Furthermore, the construction and operation of the resorts are expected to generate significant employment opportunities. The project is set to create 540 direct jobs and over 450 construction-related jobs. Gustavo Kinzel, a partner at Laghetto Sports Resort, underscored the essential support from the government, which has been pivotal to the project’s advancement.
