Content Tokyo is a comprehensive exhibition consisting of 5 specialised trade shows related to content. These events include Licensing Japan, the next edition of which will take place from 3 to 5 July.

The next edition of Content Tokyo will take place from 3 to 5 July at the Big Sight convention centre. The event is Japan’s largest trade show, consisting of five concurrent content-related fairs: Licensing Japan, the premier international licensing trade show for all categories of properties and creative content from all around the world; Creators Expo, the perfect venue for creators (writers, manga artists, illustrators, photographers, etc.) to promote their work across all media; Video & CG Production Expo, a gathering of video, CG and related content production companies; Advanced Digital Technology Expo, Japan’s leading exhibition of the latest, most innovative and high-quality solutions for entertainment experiences and interactive technologies; Ad Creative & Marketing Expo, a newly launched trade show for advertising, design, web and editorial production companies.

Content Tokyo is the place where content creators, distributors, solution/technology providers, marketing companies and licensing professionals come together under one roof.

International business opportunities are created by co-locating these events. Attendance has grown year on year. In June 2023, the event has reached 943 exhibitors and 47,092 attendees, which is +2,449 from last year.

Visitors come from 42 countries/regions and a wide range of industries, including media (22.8%), creatives (17.8%), game/music (15.6%), advertising (8.8%), etc.

The visitor profile is attractive for exhibitors, with more than 56% above the managerial level. Exhibitors can conduct effective business discussions by meeting directly with decision-makers.

Licensing Japan is Japan’s largest character and brand licensing event. Licensing and industry professionals from all over the world attend and meet at this event to develop new partnerships in Asia, and especially in Japan, a market strongly committed to protecting intellectual property rights. Here, the character business market grew to $19.89 billion in 2022 (Yano Research Institute).

The main benefits of attending Licensing Japan are:

  • Meet face-to-face with companies seeking IPs including characters, brands, sports, manga, art, games, and more. It is the premier event for connecting with licensees and agents, and discovering new products for the Asian and Japanese markets. Major companies participating in Licensing Japan include Bandai Namco, Konami, Toei, Disney, Sega, Rakuten, Tencent, and Aniplex, among others.
  • Access the third largest licensing market in the world. Japan is a major hub for licensing and the event attracts a high-profile audience: 52% of visitors are marketing, branding, PR and sales professionals, and 16% are managers or principal planners.

For these reasons, Licensing Magazine will be present at Content Tokyo with the digital version of the magazine.
