Carlsen Verlag and Beta Film have collaborated with Ulysses Films to develop the 3D animated series SuperBikes, which is one of the first such projects out of Germany.

SuperBikes is a 52 x 11′ series for boys and girls aged 4 to 7. The show follows three primary bike characters, Jump, Lexi, and Flo, as they embark on adventures and strive to grow into the larger bikes they see around town. The bikers assist each other and learn about their responsibilities and roles in their community. However, their emotions and decisions can be the most challenging obstacles.

The series is thus centred on bicycles, mobility, and sustainability, all of which are big trends among children and parents worldwide. The stories address vital subjects for children’s development, such as teamwork, the importance of staying focused on a task, and powerful themes like feeling of fear and discrimination…

The next steps

Superbikes animated series is currently in development. Plans are also in place to publish 20 books based on the IP, which will be available in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland by 2025. Video and gaming content is the works; the producers are searching for broadcasting and co-production partners, streaming platforms, licensing & merchandising deals.

Additional Carlsen IPs

As a division of the Swedish multibillionaire Bonnier Group, Carlsen has been one of the top German publishers of comics, graphic novels, children’s books, mangas, and humour for more than 60 years.

Pixi, which has been published in 24 countries, My Friend Conni, which has been published in 28 countries, and The Little We, the most well-known children’s book character in German kindergartens and primary schools, are only a few of the highly successful brands owned by Hans Christian Andersen.

Another biggest brand is The School of Magical Animals, which with more than 8 Million copies sold reached the 14 place in the top 20 of the Spiegel children’s book annual bestseller list 2022. It has been adapted into two successful films in 2021 and 2022, with two more movies coming up in 2024 and 2025.
