At Las Vegas Licensing Expo, Mattel unveiled the character costume for its all-new take on Barney.
For the first time ever, a physical version of Mattel’s CG Barney made the rounds at the expo, cheerfully greeting licensors and fans of the iconic brand.
Much to the public’s delight, Mattel first announced its comprehensive revitalization of the famed Barney franchise in February. The content-led relaunch will span everything from television, film, and YouTube content as well as music and a full range of kids’ products including toys, books, clothing, and more. Apparel and accessories for adult fans, featuring classic Barney, are also in development. Barney’s World, co-produced by Mattel Television and Corus Entertainment’s Nelvana, will debut globally in 2024 on Cartoonito on Cartoon Network and Max.
As the Mattel team (including Barney!) spends this week meeting with key licensing partners in Las Vegas, audiences should expect to see much more of the purple dinosaur in the months and years ahead.
