The world of Cocomelon reaches an ever-widening audience with spin-off series available on Netflix and YouTube.
CoComelon is set to accompany more and more young fans in their formative years as the franchise continues to expand. Moonbug Entertainment, a subsidiary of Candle Media, has in fact announced a major expansion of the entire franchise, including the launch in 2023 of a new show entirely dedicated to the much-loved Nina.
The launch of the series dedicated to Nina stems from the incredible success of Cody Time and JJ’s Animal Time. Thanks to these two spin-offs and the strength of the original CoComelon show, the franchise continues to gain new viewers: subscribers to the YouTube channel globally have increased by 33% and views have grown by almost a third (+29%) in the past year. In addition, JJ and friends reached a major new milestone with more than 50 billion views on YouTube in a single year, while CoComelon continues its success by landing week by week in the Netflix Top 10 of 2022.
RECORD-BREAKING HOLIDAY FOR JJ’S ANIMAL TIME
JJ’s Animal Time brings fun and imagination to the world of CoComelon. This new spin-off, set in JJ’s imagination, follows him and his animal friends on wild and hilarious adventures with fairy tales, nursery rhymes and more. The channel debuted in September 2022 and as of December, it had more than 33 million viewing hours (over 2 billion minutes) on YouTube alone.
CODY TIME ARRIVES ON NETFLIX
Since his CoComelon debut in 2019, Cody has gone from being JJ’s classmate to his neighbour, to his best friend and, in May 2022, got his own show and YouTube channel: Cody Time. The series follows Cody, now an older brother, and his family, which includes his father, Kwame, and mother, Toni, on adventures filled with music, games, creativity and, of course, dinosaurs (Cody’s favourite). An instant hit on YouTube, the Cody Time channel already has 2.5 million subscribers and as of 15 February, Cody Time will be available for the first time to stream on Netflix in English.
COMING SOON: NINA
Since her first appearance in CoComelon in 2019, Nina – in her distinctive yellow dungarees – has flashed across screens around the world and entered viewers’ hearts as JJ’s friendly, sporty classmate and friend. Nina grew up surrounded by her family’s rich Mexican culture and is always enthusiastic about sharing and celebrating her cultural heritage in the everyday aspects of her life. Children around the world will now be able to learn more stories through the eyes of an intergenerational Mexican-American family thanks to the launch of Nina’s dedicated YouTube channel later this year.
