2023 will be a year to celebrate the 65th Anniversary of Peyo’s beloved blue characters, with the special theme “From Paper to Metaverse”.
The Smurfs are preparing to commemorate their 65th anniversary in 2023: they appeared in fact for the first time in an adventure of Johan and Peewit The Smurfs and the Magic Flute, published in the Belgian comics magazine Spirou on October 23, 1958.
The theme of this important anniversary will be “From Paper to Metaverse”: exclusive consumer products in all categories and exciting collabs will be unveiled throughout the year.
The Smurfs’ Society
It will start in February with the release of The Smurfs’ Official NFT Project: The Smurfs Society, which will take our blue friends where no Smurf has gone before, the Web3!
The Smurfs’ Society will combine the innovation of blockchain technology with the Smurfs’ values of community and sustainability, to create NFTs for Good. In the game you can solve puzzles, earn tokenized ingredients, combine them in a formula to get a tokenized potion, use it to mint your smurf.
The PFP collection features 250 original characters, with beautiful interpretations of favourite Smurfs and a completely new cast of characters, from exclusive collaborations of famous artists and creators. Founded by experienced entrepreneurs Arianee, Teads, Sublime, with the support of The Sandbox and Lens, the project wants to unite existing NFT communities with the global Smurf network and leveraging resources to deliver concrete sustainable actions, from promoting sustainability as ambassadors for the United Nations and mobilizing their global network to take action for the environment, to supporting the need for greater gender equality with the introduction of the Smurf Girls.
