Kids First secures worldwide distribution and licensing rights for eco-conscious animation
A total of seven broadcasters across four different countries have boarded brand new animated series Audrey’s Shelter from leading French production company Watch Next Media, co-produced with Spain’s Peekaboo and Canada’s Image-in, Atlantique with the support of the CNC, Telefilm Canada, FMC, Region Ile-de-France and Region Haut-de-France.
France Televisions (France), TVO Kids, Radio–Canada, TFO and Knowledge (Canada) have jointly commissioned the 52 x 11’ series with public-service broadcasters ZDF (Germany) and RTVE (Spain) on board as co-producing broadcast partners. The series will air on both ZDF and KiKa in Germany and on Clan TV in Spain.
Paris-based children’s entertainment content distribution company Kids First will handle worldwide distribution and licensing rights for the environmentally conscious series, which is currently in production and will start airing from 2023.
Audrey’s Shelter is a wild and woolly animated series. Have you ever heard of the saiga? Or the kakapo? Or the northern hairy-nosed wombat? No? That’s ok. Audrey will introduce you! These are some of the most endangered animals in the world… and they just so happen to be her best friends! That’s because 8-year-old Audrey lives at The Wilde Refuge – her family’s shelter for endangered species. She knows first-hand that caring for a menagerie of wild animals isn’t easy, but is always worth it. It just takes a little empathy and a big sense of humour. Welcome to Audrey’s Shelter!
Philippe Allesandri, CEO of Watch Next Media says: “The commitment from so many key broadcasters across multiple territories is testament to the universal appeal of Audrey’s Shelter. The Wilde Refuge in the show is based on several real-life animal parks and reserves that are actively working to help endangered species, so we hope children will be both entertained and inspired by the series to treasure the natural world.”
