This year, in the run-up to Black History Month, Barbie is paying tribute with a collectible doll to Ida B. Wells, a woman who for nearly 50 years was a hero. Wells, a woman who courageously challenged the status quo and inspired generations of activists for nearly 50 years. A formidable activist for civil rights and women’s suffrage, Ida B. Wells co-founded the National Society for the Protection of Women. Wells co-founded the National Association of Colored Women’s Clubs and the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) to fight together for freedom, justice and equal opportunity.
