Titanus S.p.a. announces the appointment of Stefano Bethlen as its new General Manager effective 1st July. Founded in Naples in 1904 by Gustavo Lombardo, then led to the pinnacle of success by his son Goffredo until the 2000s, and now in the hands of his grandson Guido Lombardo, Titanus is Italy’s oldest film company. Based in Rome, where the Titanus-Elios film and television production studios are also located, Titanus is the most famous Italian factory of “moving images” that continues to produce emotions for all enthusiasts.
Characterized from the beginning by an avant-garde production policy, based on research and experimentation, Titanus quickly became the reference brand for hundreds of films. Its library, which counts over 370 titles, contains works that have made the history of cinema and represent a true cultural heritage: From Italian neorealism (“Rocco e i suoi fratelli”, “La Ciociara”), to the cinematographic transposition of literary novels of incalculable success (“Il Gattopardo”), to the cult-horror feature films of Dario Argento and national-popular films such as “Poveri ma belli” or, again, the comedy-police genre that has consecrated Bud Spencer among the most appreciated Italian stars abroad. In addition to the Italian successes, the distribution of important foreign films such as “Apocalypse Now” and “Once Upon a Time in America” contributed to making Titanus an international icon.
Stefano Bethlen joins Titanus as General Manager after a distinguished career with The Walt Disney Company Italia that began in 2003. Over the years, Bethlen has taken on roles of increasing prominence, moving from Theatrical Business Manager for Italy, Turkey, Russia and Greece to Head of Theatrical Distribution and Marketing and then Chief Marketing Officer. From 2016 to 2019, in the role of CMO, Stefano Bethlen managed the business of all Disney franchises at 360°, determining their growth and increase in turnover, as well as the marketing and integrated communication plans of all the company’s business lines, up to the repositioning and relaunch in Italy of the Marvel and Star Wars brands. A wealth of experience also strong in the distribution strategies of hundreds of Disney, Pixar, Marvel and Star Wars titles that have led him to collect great results at the box office.
After leaving The Walt Disney Company Italia, in the last two years Stefano Bethlen has dedicated himself to the activity of consultant and independent producer of Italian films, creating products for the European market that will soon arrive on the big screen.
