Nickelodeon together with Spongebob will present their commitment to the Italian sea and install their first seabin in the old port of Genoa
On Tuesday 8 June, World Oceans Day, a major institutional event will be held on the island of La Maddalena in Sardinia, promoted by IOC-UNESCO as part of the Decade of Marine Sciences for Sustainable Development in Italy, entitled “Between past and future: towards the Ocean Generation”.
Micaela Lodrini, VP Marketing & Brand Solutions, ViacomCBS Networks Italia, will be among the guests of the panel and will illustrate the sustainable path started some time ago by Nickelodeon, which last year led to the birth of an important partnership. In 2020, Nickelodeon collaborated with Style Piccoli in the creation of the “Manifesto of the Blue Generation with SpongeBob” created to help the new generations to have a greater sensitivity towards the planet. It is made up of the 9 letters that make up the name “SpongeBob”, and they talk about kindness, nature, attention to waste and separate waste collection, ecological transport and union, how all together we can, even more, make a difference.
Today, Nickelodeon reaffirms its commitment with various initiatives aimed at different targets. The ability of the brand is precisely that of creating content, not linear but increasingly horizontal, to embrace a wider audience and that increasingly moves on different communication platforms: from TV, social, up to the sea.
In Genoa, in the Porto Antico, on Tuesday 8 June the first Seabin sponsored by Nickelodeon and SpongeBob will be inaugurated, a real sea trash can for the collection of floating waste, which will allow to collect from the surface of the water about 1.5 kg of waste per day. This year Nickelodeon has also decided to support the LifeGate PlasticLess® project which aims to protect the health of the sea through the collection of floating rubbish. Nickelodeon and SpongeBob’s Seabin will work every day at every hour, because the environment must be protected 24 hours a day.
