Riki Group’s The Fixies became the mascot of the Russian Pavilion at Expo 2021 in Dubai

The Fixies were chosen as a mascot of the Russian Pavilion at the World Exhibition “Expo-2021”.

The mascot will be presented as a part of the big presentation of the Russian Pavilion on April 8-9, 2021 in Dubai at the “Russia Creates” conference. In addition, animated feature The Fixies vs. Crabots released theatrically in the UAE and Saudi Arabia on January 21.

“EXPO-2021” exhibition will be held in Dubai (UAE) from October 1, 2021 to March 31, 2022 and will be one of the largest in history. The subject of the World Exhibition is “Connecting Minds, Creating the Future”.

The professional jury, which included the Chairman of the Union of designers of Russia Vitaly Stavitsky, the President of the Association of branding agencies of Russia Oleg Beriev, journalist Sergey Gordeev, an artist, sculptor and designer Alexander Frolov, Director of the Russian Pavilion Alexander Getman, Manager Department of tourism and Commerce marketing of Dubai for Russia and CIS Daria Chumachenko, Deputy Director of Department of state regulation of foreign trade of Ministry of industry and trade of the Russian Federation Konstantin Kim, awarded first place to the characters of one of the beloved animated series “The Fixies”. The competition was held on the site www.collectivearts.ru.

We are very happy that the characters of the series “The Fixies” will become mascots of the Russian Pavilion at the World Exhibition  “Expo 2020” in Dubai. Our animation project has already become genuinely international, and its subjects, which are technology, science, and the structure of the environment, are close and understandable to audiences around the world. “The Fixies” has already gained popularity in Asia, and with the help of the exhibition we expect to repeat the success in the Middle East. We already have such an example, because in 2010, the Russian Pavilion at “Expo-2010” in Shanghai was represented by the characters of the animated series “Kikoriki“, – that’s how Julia Nikolaeva, General producer of Riki Group, commented on the triumph.

Alexey Gruzdev, General Commissioner of the Russian Pavilion, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation: “The theme of the Russian Pavilion is “Creative Mind: Defining the Future”. Therefore, one of our priorities at “Expo 2020” in Dubai is to show the world the creative potential of Russia. And the chosen mascot is one of its successful examples.

The year 2021 kicks off for the project with a highly anticipated theatrical release on the territory. Starting from January 21, viewers in the UAE and Saudi Arabia will be able to see The Fixies vs. Crabots. International sales are handled by Central Partnership (part of Gazprom Media Holding). As for the series, the Fixies season 1 and 2 have been launched on Bostan app, operated by Mina Mobile. This free application is one of the parents’ favorite online resource for kids’ entertainment and education in MENA and will make The Fixies series available for Arabic speakers.
