The Korean animated series Bread Barbershop, produced by Monster Studio, is quickly achieving great international success
Bread Barbershop is an animated series for children 6 – 10 years old, which debuted in 2019 in Korea and is achieving fast big success internationally.
Produced by Monster Studio, it is set in a world where all characters are different types of food. The protagonist is a slice of bread, Bread Pitt, a master cake decorator who welcomes baked goods such as cupcakes to his Barbershop. He makes haircuts that are wonderful decorations, which somehow manage to positively transform the lives of his customers, solving their problems.
After the enormous success in Korea, the series arrived in Europe in Spring 2020 and later in America on Netflix, where it placed gradually in the top 10 programs in the world. It airs on Amazon Prime since September and it is also broadcast in Vietnam and Indonesia.
Currently in Korea the second season airs on 7 channels with excellent feedback (first place on Tooniverse).
Besides being present on free and pay TV channels, the series is an internet star. On Youtube it has 755,000 subscribers and on TikTok it reached 1,500,000 followers.
The products inspired by the series have spread widely in bars, cinemas, shops but also in supermarkets and bakeries.
The licensing deals have indeed allowed the development of different product categories: toy (figure sets, paper toys…), stationery (pencil cases, notebooks, diaries …), publishing (coloring books, sticker books), games (mobile game Bread Run), food (BreadBarbershop cupcakes X Manofin, cookies Pulmuone…) and many others.
A line for children’s dental hygiene has been created recently, which includes toothbrush, toothpaste and mouthwash.
