During last Festival of Licensing, executives from Hasbro and eOne announced new releases and explained plans for its consumer products
Hasbro recently completed the acquisition of eOne. The two companies have a huge catalog of entertainment-based properties to collocate and consolidate globally. The last Festival of Licensing was the perfect opportunity to announce their news.
Samantha Lomow, president, branded entertainment, Hasbro and eOne, said that Snake Eyes, the G.I. Joe reboot, will debut on October 22, 2021 and will modernize G.I. Joe.
A theatrical version of eOne’s Power Rangers is also planned, while Hasbro, in collaboration with Paramount, has made a new Transformers movie, scheduled for summer 2022.
Olivier Dumont, president, family brands, eOne, recalled the importance of animation sector for the two companies. PJ Masks will have a global launch; in Autumn 2021 there will be the production of the fifth season, and the sixth is already in the works. My Little Pony has a new series, Pony Life, and a new film scheduled for September 2021.
There are also big news for Hasbro Gaming properties. The companies are working to realize a TV series and a movie for Dungeons and Dragons, and to make a Candy Land-inspired TV series of cooking competition, which airs on Food Network.
Marianne James, vice president, consumer products, EMEA, Hasbro, focused on licensing opportunities.
“Our unique portfolio of properties and characters, guided by transmitting emotions, have been used globally with 500 companies. With eOne Hasbro can grow brands in new unique ways across series, live action, film, animation and unscripted formats” she said.
eOne is working on developing over 100 films and 60 TV projects.
The consumer product categories that Hasbro and eOne will focus on will include publishing, promotions, and location – based entertainment. The actual key category trends identified by consumer insights are healt & beauty, food, puzzles & games and home. The team will eliminate reliance on licensing agents, using 25 local offices instead.
Marianne announced that they will focus on toy and games brands Candy Land, Dungeons & Dragons, Monopoly, NERF, Play- Doh, Power Rangers, Transformers.
They will continue to strengthen its preschool brands like Peppa Pig, PJ Masks and Ricky Zoom.
