Frijolitos is an animated preschool show which celebrates the rich culture and heritage of Latinos, presented through the unique viewpoint of an animal band! The show follows the adventures of The Lightning Bolts, a mariachi band made up of three ‘pup stars’: Pepe, Fifi, & Buñuelo, under the instruction of their teacher Albóndiga! Together they create great music based on the Latino cultural heritage.
In the show, every day brings a new adventure for the musical trio and their friends as they travel from house to house and town to town to celebrate a special occasion. But often something goes wrong, and the band has to sort out whatever problem has occurred with music, laughter and fun.
Pepe is a perky terrier, a farm dog obsessed with the classic crooners of the Fifties and always willing to help out in a crisis. Fifi, the glamorous poodle with royalty in her background, is a superstar dancer and violinist, and loves to dress up and take tea with her friends. Buñuelo is small in stature but big in heart – a tiny dynamo of a bulldog, with acrobatic skills. Guided by their quirky but talented teacher Albóndiga, they attend The Little Music School for Marvellous Animals and perform for their friends at every occasion.
Based on their long-standing publishing and toy business, the colorful world of Frijolitos has been lovingly created by the Barrios family to introduce young viewers to the worlds of music, art, history, and culture. The stories are rich in detail but presented for a preschool audience and endorsed by educational experts. Interwoven throughout the show are the important values of teamwork, friendship, problem-solving and fun. The show is accompanied throughout by the distinctive upbeat tones of mariachi music.
