Smiley’s brand mission has always been to make the world a happier place and we know from scientific research that the education of emotional intelligence in people will go a long way to achieving that.
Smiley World has been powering an EQ message for decades and while the whole emoji trend became a gimmick in licensing, Smiley’s emoticons have a purpose in this world and have stood the test of time in licensing.
Helping people understand an emotion quickly and express what may seem complicated to them more easily, science has proven that EQ has an even more crucial role to play in the world to combat the divisions we see in society today and help people manage their emotions in a more healthy way.
To build on this purpose and to celebrate its anniversary Smiley is aiming to bring communities together globally through arts education and culture. Building on Smiley’s EQ legacy through high-impact public artworks an EQ program for school and ‘Arts on prescription’ schemes for local communities. With an emphasis on enhancing social regeneration of are as raising game-changing donations for charities and directly impacting schools and local communities.
This will be done through a variety of events and experiences that will get Smiley’s partners involved in including a:
PUBLIC ART TRAIL
With giant Smiley spheroid sculptures appearing at major global landmarks on World Emoji Day 2022. Each will feature an individual state of emotion selected by a significant contributing artist who will create an artistic interpretation on the reverse side.
A HAPPIER SCHOOLS PROGRAM
Up skilling children with vital EQ life tools by inspiring and engaging in-schools arts workshops and a learning pack utilizing Smiley’s range assets and educational content that will aim to put EQ at the top of the school’s agenda. They are also planning to roll this out on scale through an state-of-the-art research-based program for teaching EQ online to adults and children in partnership with the Greater Good Science Center.
SCIENCE OF HAPPINESS EXPERIENCE
Where it will be able to transport Smileys around a track within a framework of rails. With space to play, learn and explore emotions through various science-based interactive experiences.
THE FEELGOOD INSTITUTE
Will allow people to journey through an installation of 12 curated and specially commissioned artists’ rooms aimed at stimulating each sense through a range of creative therapies that will enhance well-being and connectivity.
