BALCONY STORIES: WHEN THE BALCONY BECOMES A WAY TO TELL

21 Apr - 2020

Balcony Stories celebrates the energy and positive spirit of people who don’t give up despite the extraordinary moment we are living in

ViacomCBS International Studios (VIS) presents Balcony Stories: a special collection of stories told from balconies and windows all over the world, directly from the people who with courage and great sense of responsibility face every day the particular historical moment we are all living.

A creative way to celebrate the patience, effort and cheerful spirit of those who, despite everything, do not give up a smile. The contents, produced by VIS (ViacomCBS International Studios) in collaboration with Fremantle, will be created both by the faces of the brands and by the network users who will become the protagonists of a new and unprecedented narrative space.

In world premiere, Wednesday, April 22, Balcony Stories in Italy will be on MTV (Sky channel 130 and streaming on NOW TV) and Comedy Central (Sky channel 128 and streaming on NOW TV) with short pills on air during the day, Monday to Friday. In addition, every Saturday, starting May 2 at 9.30 pm on CFremantleomedy Central, an extended edition will be broadcast with a selection of the best content of the week.

Staying at home today is necessary to protect everyone’s health and help the world get going again. A new way of living in solidarity that is becoming more familiar and complicated at the same time. And yet, in this difficult scenario, as the doors of our homes close, we can widen our gaze, our mind, looking out onto a balcony or window, symbols of openness and precious glimmers through which to discover new stories and resources. To show that a positive vision of crises is possible, are first of all the people who, all over the world, looking out from the balconies of their homes, have shared special, funny and exciting moments told now in the original production Balcony Stories.

ViacomCBS has always been committed to stand by its audience, anywhere, anytime. In this particular situation, more than ever, we have chosen to stay close to our fans, encouraging them not to give up. Balcony Stories was born with this spirit. During these months we have cultivated our imagination, our sense of humor and nurtured the artist within each of us. Sharing the exciting – often even funny – stories we are living can help us remember that we are facing this difficult moment all together. It can help us see the empathy, creativity and lively spirit that animates the world. With Balcony Stories, we want to celebrate this positive attitude,” said Raffaele Annecchino, President of ViacomCBS Networks EMEAA.

Balcony Stories will be broadcast worldwide on MTV, VH1, Comedy Central, Paramount Networks, BET and Spike channels of ViacomCBS Networks International and on digital platforms in Europe, Middle East, Africa and Asia. The new production Balcony Stories offers an exclusive and intimate look at the experience we are living, where balconies become windows from which to see and tell unique and unrepeatable scenarios that belong to all of us. The short stories of extraordinary life will be translated into 27 languages and broadcast in 130 countries and 100 channels, with four daily episodes aired from Monday to Friday.

Produced in collaboration with Fremantle, with content recorded directly by users, Balcony Stories transforms the network audience into the protagonist. The videos show the new daily routine: the sense of humour that emerges from this situation, the relationships with others, the feelings, the artist who is inside each of us. All this becomes a unique testimony of how people all over the world, from Japan to the Netherlands, are living this extraordinary moment. From Wednesday 22 all users will be able to upload their videos and clips on balconystories.tv.
