Barbie, the doll with the most representations on the market, announces new and inclusive looks within the Barbie Fashionistas line
Barbie Fashionistas is the line within which the Barbie brand offers more diversity and inclusion, girls can choose from a wide variety of skin tones, eye colors, textures and hair colors, build and look. The variety offered was created with the intention of inspiring girls to tell more stories and find a doll that will appeal to each of them. Over the past five years, the line has evolved to be even more a reflection of the world girls see around them, introducing more than 170 new looks.
In 2020, Barbie will continue to represent inclusiveness and diversity globally within the fashion dolls industry, offering a multi-dimensional vision of beauty and fashion, adding: A doll without hair (bold), a doll with a darker complexion and a gold prosthesis, Barbie with Vitiligo, Ken with long flowing hair (rooted).
Barbie’s efforts in spreading the concepts of diversity and inclusiveness are getting some feedback; more than half of the dolls sold in the world last year were different dolls. In the top ten best sellers, seven were different dolls, including the wheelchair doll. In the UK, both wheelchair Barbie models were the first and second best selling Fashionistas, while globally the first best selling Fashionista was the dark curvy doll with afro hair.
The new range of Fashionistas in Italy is available from: 15th February 2020
