World’s most licensable pug kicks off 2020 in every major market

Leading French Entertainment company TeamTO has joined forces with top French Licensing Agency France Télévisions Distribution to bring MIGHTY MIKE – the world’s most licensable pug – to the French market. The news comes on the heels of CITV’s UK debut of the slapstick comedy on January 6th.

Patricia de Wilde, TeamTO’s VP of Marketing, and a licensing veteran, stated, “2020 will be the year that TeamTO’s original IPs make their mark in licensing, not only in France where our series perform extremely well, but in trend-setting markets such as the US, UK and China. The combination of having a popular show with very likeable and licensable characters on platforms like CITV, Cartoon Network, Universal Kids and Tencent, among others, is sure to seal MIKE’s fate as the most licensable dog in the world.”

Aude de la Villarmois, director of licensing at France Télévisions Distribution, shared their 2020 plans for MIGHTY MIKE: “This dazzling Pug has out-performed in its prime slot on France 3 guaranteeing that it will hold an optimal platform in France. The natural licensing playground for MIKE are categories that spring from the series’ comedy (comics, gags, games), and that appeal to fans and collectors (plush, mugs, slippers). We also plan to focus on the very extensive pet market in France, including animal care products, toys, and promotions.”

MIGHTY MIKE (78 x 7’) has been acquired by CITV (UK), Universal Kids (US), CBC and Family Channel (Canada), Boomerang (EMEA, Asia Pacific and Latam), France Télévisions (France), ABC (Australia), Super RTL (Germany), Cartoonito (Turkey, Middle East), Tencent (China), VRT (Belgium), YLE (Finland), and KRO-NCRV (Netherlands). Licensing rights are represented by Surge Licensing in North America and by UYoung in Greater China.

MIGHTY MIKE is an original TeamTO production with Canada’s Digital Dimension, distributed by CAKE worldwide (excluding France, Germany and China).  The dialogue-free chase cartoon features Mike, a refined pug with sophisticated tastes who longs for a quiet life but is instead forced to defend his house from a bunch of furry intruders.  Raccoons, turtles and Fluffy the Cat have a knack for showing up at the worst possible moments, dragging Mike into a series of unforeseen twists and turns!

France Télévisions Distribution and TeamTO also announced a first book deal for ANGELO RULES with Dragon d’Or Publishing. The deal kicks off with a collection of comedy/adventure chapter books to be launched in the Spring of 2020, with a plan to extend into other categories such as activity, game and comic books later in the year.

A top performing show on France Télévision, ANGELO RULES has aired in over 100 territories, while its four digital games (ANGELO SKATE AWAY, A BUSY DAY, SUPER RUN and FUNNY FACES), have been downloaded 6 million times. Now in its 4th Season ANGELO RULES  is a TeamTO/CAKE coproduction with TeleTOON+ and Super RTL in collaboration with France Television, based on the French series of books Comment Faire Enrager, written by Sylvie de Mathuisieulx and illustrated by Sébastien Diologent.
