James Wan and his Atomic Monster with Bonelli Entertainment to produce the TV series dedicated to the cult horror comic “DYLAN DOG”

James Wan’s Atomic Monster will work alongside comic book publisher Sergio Bonelli Editore to create an English-language TV series based on the cult comic Dylan Dog.

“Dylan Dog,” created by Tiziano Sclavi, will develop as a live-action series in 10 episodes, inspired by the popular comic strip starring the famous “Investigator of the Nightmare” dealing with monsters, ghosts, vampires, werewolves and zombies. The series, born 33 years ago and published in the United States by Dark Horse Comics, boasts a catalogue of over 500 comic book stories and since its debut to date has sold over 50 million copies worldwide.

For Bonelli Entertainment, the division that develops film and television projects based on the characters of the publishing house, the executive producers will be Vincenzo Sarno (Bonelli) and Giovanni Cova (QMI), under the supervision of Michele Masiero and Simone Airoldi. For Atomic Monster, executive producers will be James Wan and Michael Clear, under the supervision of Rob Hackett.

“James Wan and Atomic Monster are masters of the horror genre and have a deep sensitivity about how best to adapt comics to the screen,” explains Davide Bonelli. “We’re thrilled that a team like this is working on one of our most important characters.

“Dylan Dog is one of my favorite comics of all time,” adds James Wan (director of Aquaman, from the universe of The Conjuring and Malignant, soon to be released). “I was first introduced to the stories of the Nightmare Investigator in high school by my European friends. Even though I didn’t understand the text at the time because of the language, I easily reconstructed the story through the beautiful drawings and references to the horror genre. I’m excited to collaborate with Sergio Bonelli Editore to bring all this to the screen.”

Atomic Monster‘s next appointment will be with The Conjuring 3, with Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson, to be released on September 11, 2020.  The company is currently involved in the production of There’s Someone Inside Your House for Netflix, Mortal Kombat for New Line and Starlight Media and Midas Innovation for Malignant, directed by James Wan himself. For TV, Atomic Monster is working on the fourth season of MacGyver for CBS and has just finished the production of the Swamp Thing series for DC Universe.

Sergio Bonelli Editore, founded in 1941, is one of the most important comics publishers in the world. The stories of its characters are distributed in over 35 countries. Bonelli Entertainment, the division of Sergio Bonelli Editore that develops film and television projects based on its comics, is currently engaged in the creation of a live action film, produced with Eagle Pictures and Brandon Box and coming out in 2020, which will feature the character of Dampyr. For TV, Bonelli Entertainment is co-producing with Rai the animated series based on the character of Dragonero. Soon, on the editorial side, Sergio Bonelli Editore will collaborate with DC Comics for a series of graphic novels in which characters from the DC universe and those from the Bonelli universe will join forces in a series of comic strip crossovers.

Wan is represented by Paradigm, Stacey Testro International and lawyer David Fox.

Bonelli is represented by Bonelli Erede and lawyers Giovanni Guglielmetti and Pasquale Tammaro.
