YU-GI-OH! TRIBUTE ART SHOW TO NEW YORK

7 Oct - 2019

Highlights include over 60 commissioned works on display, with 6 new designs unveiled for the first time

The worlds of art and anime will collide when Konami Cross Media NY Inc. and pop culture arthouse Gallery1988 officially bring the Yu-Gi-Oh! Tribute Art Show to New York City to coincide with this year’s New York Comic Con.

The limited time event will run from October 3-6 during New York Comic Con and will be showcased in a nearby gallery a few blocks from the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center.  Admission is free.

After successfully launching the experiential event to much fanfare in Los Angeles at Anime Expo earlier this year, Konami and Gallery1988 will feature six new commissioned works of immersive and visually stunning pieces inspired by the Yu-Gi-Oh! franchise creator, Kazuki Takahashi. Also on display will be more than 60 Yu-Gi-Oh! inspired pieces of art that were first on display at the Los Angeles event. A highlight of this show will be the rare opportunity to see the four pieces created by Kazuki Takahashi which originally debuted during the Los Angeles in July.

  • On Friday night (Oct. 4), artists Dan Mumford and Anthony Petrie will be in attendance and available for signings, personally showcasing their new Yu-Gi-Oh! designs. A freelance London illustrator, Mumford’s portfolio includes poster work for Avengers: Infinity War, The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, and Spider-Man: Homecoming.  Petrie, an award-winning poster artist/designer based in L.A., has created posters for Spiderman: Into the Spider-Verse, Black Panther and The Hulk. Both artists have impressive credentials, between them, having worked for Disney, Sony, CBS, Bad Robot, Marvel, NFL and Hasbro, among others.
  • Saturday afternoon (Oct. 5) will be a big day for fans as a number of Yu-Gi-Oh! voice actors are scheduled to attend the exhibit and will be available for autograph signings.  This includes Dan Green (Yugi/Yami Yugi), Darren Dunstan (Maximillian Pegasus), Erica Schroeder (Dark Magician Girl) and Jake Paque (Playmaker – Yu-Gi-Oh! VRAINS).

Also on tap, there will be new limited edition prints, pins, posters and a T-shirt based on designs from the show.  Each day, the first 100 attendees will receive a free button.  Go to facebook.com/yugioh for the most up to date schedule and show information.
