Penguin Venture partner with Sellador Family for the show Spot
Penguin Ventures, part of Penguin Random House UK, has announced a new partnership with Selladoor Worldwide. The theatrical production company will develop a brand new stage show based on Eric Hill’s original Spot books and will launch to coincide with the 40thanniversary of Eric Hill’s original Where’s Spot? picture book (published by Puffin) in 2020.
Capturing the spirit of the original books and featuring Spot and his cast of friends, the production will offer families a wonderful experience for first-time theatre-goers. With a wealth of experience in creating other successful preschool children’s shows, Selladoor were the perfect partner to bring Spot to the stage.
Script writer Guy Unsworth has developed a show that incorporates the most engaging and endearing elements of Spot’s world including search and find, counting, colours and most importantly – lots of audience participation and some brilliantly fun songs!
Thomas Merrington, Creative Director at Penguin Ventures said: “Bringing brands to life on stage is a key part of our live events strategy, so we really wanted to find a theatre partner that understood, but more importantly, really loved Spot. In Selladoor we have found a brilliant creative partner to bring Spot to life and in Guy a wonderful writer who really understands the unique elements of Spot and his world. We are thrilled to be partnering with them to bring Spot to the stage in his milestone 40th year”
Alexander Parker, Producer for Selladoor Family said: “Spot is a national treasure and we’re delighted to be working with Penguin Ventures and Guy Unsworth to bring him to the stage for a new generation of theatregoers! Selladoor Family is committed to engaging young people in theatre and strongly believe these experiences help to develop a sense of imagination, playfulness and confidence. ”
The Selladoor Spot show will embark on a nationwide tour in summer 2020.
