Licensing Expo Japan (LEJ) 2019 will be sweeping the halls of the Tokyo Big Sight Exhibition Center September 3 – 6

Japan may be small in size, but when it comes to business one should not overlook the mighty market as it is home to a number of top international household names and a rich cultural heritage. Take into account the average Japanese shopper, who has long had a reputation for being discerning and happy to pay more for quality products, it comes as no surprise the country ranks as the third largest market for licensed merchandise in the world, according to Licensing International’s Annual Global Licensing Industry Survey 2019 Report. While character and entertainment continue to lead retail sales of Japanese licensed merchandise, the country saw immense growth across property categories, with corporate sales reaching $1.387 billion in 2018, followed by retail sales in fashion reaching $980 million.

In a move to further support the companies in and those looking to enter Japan’s growing licensing market, Licensing Expo Japan (LEJ) 2019 will be sweeping the halls of the Tokyo Big Sight Exhibition Center September 3 – 6, supported by official sponsor Licensing International Japan. As the leading forum for licensors and licensees to meet and do business in Japan, LEJ will provide a platform for exhibiting licensors and agents to connect with more than 88,000 retailers, as well as the 2,900 existing and potential licensee companies that exhibit.

Furthermore, in its third year, LEJ has partnered with Business Guide-Sha, organizer of the Tokyo International Gift Show, to co-locate alongside Japan’s largest and longest-running exhibition for gifts, incentive products, and merchandise, including fashion and accessories, home décor, sports and leisure, health and beauty, stationary and paper goods, and pet products. The collaboration is set to result in the creation of the most comprehensive collection of brands, characters, and licensing content in Japan.
