Dr. Seuss Enterprises’ successes and news after Licensing Expo
1. Licensing Expo took place last month. Which have been the main feedbacks and results from that trade show?
The show was busy for Dr. Seuss Enterprises, as it always is. We took the opportunity to meet with both existing partners and agencies, as well as meet new potential partners. We have several proposals from potential licensing partners, international agencies, and strategic partners that we are excited about.
2.Which are the main projects from Dr. Seuss properties you’re working on?
Right now, we’re working with Random House Children’s Book to launch the new Dr. Seuss book, Dr. Seuss’s Horse Museum, featuring a previously unpublished manuscript and sketches that were discovered in Ted “Seuss” Geisel’s home 21 years after his death. The book will be on shelves this September. We’re also in the planning stages of a new interactive exhibit, The Dr. Seuss Experience, A Wonderous World Awaits, which will bring the beloved characters and illustrations of Dr. Seuss to life in a new and unique way. We are very excited for the upcoming Netflix animated series, Green Eggs and Ham, to debut in the fall as well. Lastly, the Cat in the Hat will once again run for President in the 2020 election, so we look forward to elevating this campaign in the coming months.
3.Which will be the next novelties on the TV side?
We are very excited to announce Netflix has turned the classic Dr. Seuss tale, Green Eggs and Ham, into a star-studded animated series that will debut on the streaming service this fall. Additionally, we continue to roll out new episodes in our award-winning PBS animated TV show, The Cat in the Hat Knows A Lot About That!.
4.And about licensing news?
We recently signed a slate of new partners who are creating products to reach a broad audience. We partnered with Dwindle to bring Dr. Seuss classic characters and fine art to the skate community. We partnered with Leap Year Publishing to bring arts, crafts and supplies to families. We partnered with Oriental Trading to bring a myriad of products including school and classroom supplies teachers. Finally, we partnered with Ranir to bring Dr. Seuss back to the oral care market.
5.Which are the main plans for 2020?
In addition to The Dr. Seuss Experience and Cat in the Hat for President, we are celebrating the 50th anniversary of Earth Day with the Lorax by creating an integrated promotional plan that will include eco-friendly products, educational materials and strategic partners all aligned with a common goal of making a difference. Finally, we are focused on all things digital and social and will be expanding our footprint in both places in a significant way.
