Konami unveils Yu-Gi-Oh! Art Show on July 5th during Anime Expo
Los Angeles’ Gallery1988 is teaming up with Konami Cross Media NY, to honor the international cultural phenomenon that is Yu-Gi-Oh! To celebrate over 20 years of entertaining fans worldwide, some of the gallery’s most popular artists have been commissioned to create artwork inspired by Yu-Gi-Oh!’s colorful and iconic characters.
Opening on the same weekend as the nearby Anime Expo, both one-of-a-kind pieces and prints have been created, inspired by the work of Yu-Gi-Oh! creator Kazuki Takahashi, and they are all set to debut at the exhibit with the opening to the public on July 5. The featured gallery artists are Tom Whalen, Dan Mumford, Steve Dressler, Dave Perillo, Matthew Skiff and Anthony Petrie.
“It is an honor to organize a show celebrating the rich expansive world of Yu-Gi-Oh! created by Kazuki Takahashi. We are very excited to be partnering with Gallery1988 and the participating artists.” says Yuta Kose, President of Konami Cross Media NY.
In a new development, Sensei Takahashi has also created four new pieces that will debut at the exhibit along with the other artists’ prints, which have never been exhibited until now.
In addition to the traditional artwork, a once-in-a-lifetime installation from Pretty In Plastic will also be displayed at G1988, creating a must-see for Yu-Gi-Oh! fans, new or old.

When:
- Public opening 7PM – 10PM on July 5th.
- The show will be open to the public during normal gallery hours July 6th-14th 11AM-6PM (closed Mondays and Tuesdays)
Show will feature over 50 artists debuting work inspired by Yu-Gi-Oh!. There will be 6 different screenprint designs available for sale. Each is numbered and limited to 100, cost $50 each.
