Eleven German talents in competition and established producers of German export hits: the animation industry meets in Annecy
The Festival International d’Animation in Annecy, the largest European animation festival, is taking place from 10 to 15 June. The MIFA film market has developed alongside and become an interesting platform for German producers seeking business partners for international co-productions.
Animation Germany is the umbrella brand of the German animation and VFX industry and informs and promotes the industry. Animation Germany is represented at the joint stand of AG Kurzfilm and German Films (MIFA #4.C20) and provides information about German animation producers and productions in development. The new image trailer for 2019 will be shown and gives a current overview of the animation and VFX programmes from Germany being distributed in cinemas, TV and on platforms. A large number of these productions are very successful internationally – German animated feature films reach 80% of their admissions on the international market (source: Comscore via German Films and the FFA). Examples of particularly successful international productions are the feature films ‘Luis and the Aliens‘, ‘Marnie’s World‘ and ‘Maya the Bee 2 – The Honey Games‘ as well as the ‘Animanimals’ TV series, which were all sold to approx. 180 territories.
