Bunnies bounce into Spain and Portugal with 9th Impact commissioned to create Magic Pop!
Media I.M. Incorporated Ltd, the London-based content distribution company that specialises in premium animation and family entertainment announced its latest deal for the hit pre-school animated show, Sunny Bunnies plus the launch of a brand new mobile game.
HBO Europe has taken SVOD rights for the first two seasons of Sunny Bunnies (52×3.5′) for Portugal and Spain, launching in Spain in December 2018 and Portugal in Spring 2019. The news comes swiftly on the heels of this month’s confirmation of the license of all three seasons of Sunny Bunnies (78 x 3.5′) in the UK to Channel 5’s pre-school programming block Milkshake! in yet another landmark deal for the hit Belarus animation, which is now on air in more than 160 territories.
Sunny Bunny’s global reach is being supported by an L&M strategy rolling out in key territories from Canada to Asia. The latest move in this diversified push is the impending launch next month of a mobile game. With the new tie-in, Media I.M. are aiming for complete integration of the Sunny Bunnies universe across all the official licensed brand extensions.
Media I.M. has selected award winning Galway based specialist games developer 9th Impact to create a mobile game. The new game – Sunny Bunnies: Magic Pop! – is a puzzle where players tap 3 or more adjoining characters of the same colour in order to make them magically “pop” and count toward achievement of the level objective.
“We picked 9th Impact as our game development partner because of their deep understanding of working with TV properties and their track record of making games that fans of the TV show love. We are breaking down traditional barriers that existed between different areas of licensing. An episode of the TV show will feature the Sunny Bunnies playing the game, the game will feature clips from the TV show.’ said Gavin Metcalfe, brand licensing director at Media I.M.
“We wanted to create a game that reflected the bright, colourful fun of the Sunny Bunnies comedy but was also challenging for kids and could help develop problem solving and logical thinking skills” said Dr. Finn Krewer, Head of Development at 9th Impact.
The core audience of Sunny Bunnies are 3 to 6 year old kids, so the game has been designed with safety in mind – there is no ability for players to enter any text that could be seen by another player.
The specially created episode will be titled ‘Magic Pop!’ and will be broadcast on the same day as the game launches on the Sunny Bunnies You Tube Channel.
Sunny Bunnies: Magic Pop! will launch on Google Play Store and Apple App Store globally on November 16th
