Barbie reflects upon inspiring women of the past and present and continues to show girls they can be whatever they want to be.
Today, on the brink of International Women’s Day, Barbie pays homage to 17 female personalities from the past and present, from all over the world. Women who come from various settings and contexts and who break the mould to become a fountain of inspiration for the next generation of girls. There are many mothers who are worried about the kind of women little girls are being exposed to these days; so Barbie has given way to a dialogue on the importance of positive role models to take inspiration from.
Lisa McKnight, SVP and GM of Barbie, says: “The Barbie mission is to inspire the infinite potential that can be found in every little girl. For this reason, we are paying homage to many inspiring female role models for the occasion of International Women’s Day: we know that you can’t be that which you don’t know about. Girls have always played at being different characters with various careers with Barbie and we are enthusiastic to bring inspiring female role models into the mix of real life, reminding little girls that they can be anything they want to be.“
To give life to a global discussion during the International Women’s Day, Barbie pays homage to 14 female role models of our time – Through the Shero programme, Barbie celebrates the women that have crossed the line and gone beyond their borders, inspiring future generations of girls, creating a One of a Kind doll inspired by them.
