King Features Expands Archie Comics Merchandising Program

America’s Favorite Teens Head to Stardom via Torrid, Spencer’s Gifts and Funko with New Apparel, Accessories, Novelties, Pop-Culture Collectibles & More.

King Features Syndicate, home to some of the world’s most popular entertainment characters, including PopeyeBetty BoopFlash Gordon, Krazy Kat, Mandrake the Magician and others, announced a slate of new deals for classic Archie Comics across categories including apparel, accessories, novelties, and more. Archie Comics continues to be one of the hottest comic properties in the world and the brand was recently catapulted to new heights by Riverdale, The CW’s live-action series starring America’s favorite teens.

In 2018, Archie Comics is heading to Spencer’s Gifts in the U.S. and Canada for a robust product line including apparel, accessories, glassware, costumes, and novelty items hitting store shelves in early 2018 plus, coming in July 2018, Spirit Halloween will be showcasing new costumes just in time for Halloween.

Betty and Veronica are debuting on Torrid.com, the fastest-growing plus size fashion brand in America, in 2018 with a retro fashion collection inspired by the classic characters featuring dresses, tops, sweaters, and more debuting in Summer 2018, with potential additional collections later in the year.

Pop-culture specialist Funko is also on board and their collection of figures (both classic and Pop!Vinyl), plush, apparel, bags and accessories plus a digital collection of  figures, trading cards, emojis and stickers will launch for Comic-Con International 2018.

Ripple Junction is bringing Archie, Betty, Veronica, and their friends to novelty items and apparel for men and juniors. Debuting for the New Year, the collection includes fashion tops, fleece tops, jackets, cell phone accessories, enamel pins, and hats that will be sold in mass market stores, mid-tier stores, department and specialty stores, catalogs, and e-commerce webstores in the U.S. and Canada.

Fans in Australia can find new product in-store, with Mitch Dowd bringing men’s and women’s t-shirts to Big W. In addition, they are developing styles for an exclusive print-on-demand program through Amazon Australia; the deal was brokered by King Features’ Australia and New Zealand licensing agent, Merchantwise.

Zynga has also renewed their deal to continue bringing Archie Comics to their Hit It Rich virtual slot machine game worldwide.
