Currently in full pre-production, the ambitious series is now greenlit, with delivery planned for 2018 and broadcast scheduled for early 2019.
Leading European CGI studio TeamTO is pleased to announce the presale of its maverick new comedy series Take it Easy Mike (78 x 7) to leading European networks France Télévisions (France) and SUPER RTL (Germany).
Pierre Siracusa, Director of Animation, France Télévisions, noted, “Few series can boast of revolutionising a genre. That is exactly what TeamTO has done with Take it Easy Mike, achieving what until now has been unimaginable in a TV series: they have created a world of animated characters that look genuinely real. The level of hyperrealism attained in this series radically changes our expectations of traditional animation, opening a whole new world of possibilities for developing characters, the richness of the expressions, and even the scope of physical gags…We are so grateful to join Corinne and Guillaume on this exciting experience!”
Carsten Göttel, SUPER RTL’s Program Director, added, “As Loriot, one of the most famous German cartoonist and humorist, already said, ‘A pugless life is possible, yet pointless.’ We fully agree and are very excited to be part of this hilarious series from TeamTO.”
Guillaume Hellouin, President of TeamTO, commented, “It is amazingly exciting to see this show coming to life – in a literal sense. From a creative standpoint, we have been able to stretch the boundaries of animated comedy beyond anything we have done before, thanks to the technical sophistication of this photorealistic production. It has been a real breakthrough for our studio – and we are thrilled to have our long-time partners France Télévisions and SUPER RTL join us on this adventure.”
Co-produced with Canada’s Digital Dimension, Take it Easy Mike is a dialogue-free, slapstick comedy from the creators of TeamTO’s Oscar’s Oasis, in the style of Tom & Jerry-meets-silly pet videos. The non-stop action is directed by Franz Kirchner, director on TeamTO’s Angelo Rules (Series 1 & 2) and Rabbids Invasion, and Antoine Bouron, director on Rabbids Invasion and Les Petites Betes (English title tbd). Worldwide distribution (excluding France, Germany and China) is handled by kids entertainment specialist CAKE.
At the heart of the series is Mike, a refined pug with boundless energy and sophisticated tastes who’s set on seducing Cindy, the lovely neighbour’s dog. Sadly, his plans never seem to work out as a bunch of trouble-makers always interferes. Freddy and Mercury the racoons, Fluffy the cutest kitten and the turtle trio have a knack of showing up at the worst possible moments dragging Mike into a series of unforeseen twists and turns!
