Award-Winning Mermaid Collectible Brand Expands in 2017, introducing New Realms and Adventures, Plus a Big Splash Into Wal-Mart.
Following a tremendous debut year, TPF Toys takes a deeper dive into Splashlings™, “An Ocean Full of Friends™”, its award-winning and highly sought after mermaid-themed collectibles line.
Invented by the famed Pound Puppies® creator, Splashlings’ collectible mermaids and ocean friends arrive in Wal-Mart stores this February, as simultaneously, a new third wave is introduced at Toy Fair in New York, February 18-21, 2017 at booth # 1983.
“Splashlings took the girls’ collectible aisle by storm last year and we’re really excited its footprint is growing, especially with its presence at Wal-Mart stores nationwide,” said Giles Musker, Managing Director of TPF Toys. “We’re constantly looking for new ways to engage the play pattern and we are confident that the latest wave will resonate with fans.”
Across its three waves, Splashlings “An Ocean Full of Friends” affords kids more than 300 mermaids, ocean friends, gems, shells and ocean-themed treasure characters. Wave 3 Splashlings introduces six unique sparkling underwater worlds to explore, encouraging collectors to complete each realm, including Treasuretopia, Coral Canyon, Heartstone Hideaway, Icicle Island, Sunlantis and Fintopia! Assortment packs and playsets come with a collector poster illustrating the details of each realm, revealing where each respective mermaid and friends call home. Shell Time Playsets debut this Spring.
Shell Time Playsets – These pocket-sized seashell homes are a perfect way to play on the go — just close the shell and be on your way! Each Shell Time Playset features one exclusive mermaid, two exclusive Splashlings, plus room accessories. Designed for kids ages 5 and older, the Shell Time Playsets are available for a suggested retail price of $12.99, each is one of four fun themes:

- The Dream Time Playset – It’s nothing but sweet dreams for your sleepy Splashings as you tuck them in for the night.

In its debut year, Splashlings was named one of the top collectibles of the holiday season by TTPM (toys, tots, pets and more) and also earned a coveted Toy Insider award. The brand has 12 licensees on board and is moving into new categories including Apparel and Accessories, Food and Beverage, Health and Beauty, Home, Publishing and Stationery, and Digital and Accessories. An animated Splashlings digital series, produced by Shaftesbury/Smokebomb in partnership with TPF Toys, has already garnered over one million views.
In addition, over 20 live-action 90-second “playisodes” are now available on Splashlings.com, where real kids bring short scripted narratives to life using the popular Splashlings figurines and the brand new Coral Playground and Medical Clinic playsets. These playisodes continue to expand and explore the colorful world and fun characters of Splashlings.
